HomeAPI and MCP
Configure the API with your own key
The developers area documents a REST JSON API and the package @lician/mcp-server. You supply the key. This guide does not claim a live MCP marketplace listing. Marketplace submission, if any, is separate from installing the package yourself.
- Call REST with Authorization: Bearer or the X-API-Key header. Documented examples include a price snapshot, income statements, and insider trades. The same docs also list balance sheets, cash flow, financial metrics, institutional ownership, analyst ratings, company facts, filings, and news.
- For an MCP client, the documented local command is npx -y @lician/mcp-server with LICIAN_API_KEY set to your key. Remote HTTP is https://lician.com/api/mcp and tool calls require X-API-Key. The docs say get_stock_price calls the price snapshot route.
- Free keys are capped at 100 requests per UTC day. Resets midnight UTC. Paid API tiers and their prices are listed on the developers page. This guide does not restate those prices. Consumer Lician Pro, on the Pro page, is $19.99/mo or $149/yr. That subscription is not the developer API plan.
A key does not guarantee every route returns data. Missing credentials return 401 after the anonymous preview the docs describe. The API does not replace the SEC filing pages or the financials tables. The signed-in research chat is a different surface from this package. Nothing here is investment advice.
